Background-checked movers for Portland apartments, high-rises, craftsman homes, and offices, from a Hillsboro moving company serving the metro since 2006.
Moving across town or coming from out of state? Our movers in Portland, OR, understand the unique needs of Portland families and businesses. Whether you are navigating tight street parking rules during a condo move in the Pearl District, loading a historic craftsman home in Southeast Portland, or orchestrating a corporate move downtown, we ensure a seamless transition.
From Pearl District High-Rises to Southeast Craftsman Homes
Portland housing ranges from Pearl District and South Waterfront towers to century-old craftsman homes in Southeast neighborhoods like Hawthorne and Sunnyside, and each one moves differently. A high-rise move depends on elevator reservations, loading docks, and building move windows. An older craftsman home often means narrow original stairwells, porch steps, and street parking out front. Our movers plan for both, along with office moves in downtown Portland, so the plan is set before the truck arrives.
Every part of Portland moves a little differently. Pick your area to see what your move usually involves and what to plan before moving day.
Downtown and the Pearl District
Downtown, Pearl District, Old Town
What your move usually involves
High-rise and mid-rise buildings with set move days, move hours, and elevator reservations
A loading dock, or a reserved curb space in a metered parking area
A certificate of insurance (COI) that the building requires from your movers
Plan ahead
On metered blocks, PBOT staff post the parking reservation signs for you. Allow 5 to 7 business days from application to your move date. Our apartment and high-rise checklist covers the building side.
Northwest Portland
Nob Hill, Alphabet District, Slabtown
What your move usually involves
Older apartment buildings, many of them walk-ups without an elevator
Victorian and early 1900s homes with front steps and narrow interior stairs
Dense street parking, so the truck may not fit near the door without a reservation
Plan ahead
Tell us about stairs and walk-up floors when you book so we send the right number of movers. Moving out past the West Hills? See our Cedar Hills movers page.
North Portland
St. Johns, Kenton, Arbor Lodge, Boise, Mississippi
What your move usually involves
A mix of older bungalows on residential streets and newer apartment buildings along corridors like N Williams and N Mississippi
Newer buildings with their own move rules, elevator bookings, and garage or courtyard access
Busy commercial streets where curb space fills early
Plan ahead
Ask your building manager for move rules as soon as you sign the lease. Heading across the Columbia River? Our Vancouver, WA movers handle moves on the Washington side.
Northeast Portland
Irvington, Alberta Arts, Grant Park, Hollywood, Rose City Park
What your move usually involves
Older homes with porch steps, and many with basements or finished attics
Historic homes in areas like Irvington, where doorways and stairwells can be tight for large furniture
Tree-lined residential streets where the truck parks at the curb
Plan ahead
Measure your largest pieces against doorways and stair turns at both homes. Moving farther east? See our Gresham movers page.
High-rise condo and apartment towers in South Waterfront with elevator and loading dock rules
Addresses that changed from SW to S on May 1, 2020, when Portland created South Portland as its sixth address area and dropped leading zeros
Hillside homes toward Collins View with the same steep-street planning as Southwest
Plan ahead
Give your movers the current S address, not an old SW address with a leading zero, so navigation goes to the right building. Moving toward the south metro? See our Lake Oswego movers page.

City fees are estimates based on PBOT's published rates and do not include our moving costs. Your final permit fee depends on your address, curb length, and dates.

Justin & Brandon crushed it!! Thanks to them, we were able to complete one of the biggest home stage installs of my career. The logistics of getting a house ready for the market can be daunting, but with guys like that in your corner (who quite literally take on the heavy lifting) — it’s completely manageable. Will hire again!! :)
Response from the owner:Lily, we love hearing this! Blaine and Tyler will be thrilled to know their speed and efficiency made such an impression. We’d be glad to help with your future real estate and staging projects.

Amazing!! The whole crew was so fast & efficient and very friendly. You could tell they all work together very well and make the most of it. We all know that moving is rough. Not only stressfull, but hard on your body. These guys do it professionally and with a great attitude. We've had some not so good experiences with moving companies in the past and these guys knocked it out of the park. Thanks to everyone at Prority. Highly recommend!
Response from the owner:We sincerely appreciate your kind words and are thrilled to hear about your positive experience with our team. Our commitment to professionalism and efficiency is paramount, and it’s gratifying to know we’ve met your expectations. Thank you for recommending us; we look forward to assisting you again in the future.

Moving FAQs About Our Movers in Portland, OR
How much do movers in Portland, OR cost?
Moves are charged hourly. Things that influence how long a move takes include the size of your home and the amount of belongings to be moved, as well as crew size, number of trucks, access at each property (like narrow street configurations in Northwest Portland, historical building elevator rules, multiple flights of stairs, or tight residential entries, etc.).
Do you offer packing services?
Yes. We provide full-service packing using professional materials for fragile items, electronics, and everyday household goods.
How far in advance should I book my move?
We recommend scheduling 2–4 weeks in advance, especially during summer or end-of-month.
Can you move large or unusual items?
Absolutely. We move pianos, oversized furniture, artwork, and other specialty items with proper equipment and care.
Do you provide moving boxes?
Yes. If you book packing services, we bring all the supplies you’ll need, including specialty boxes for fragile items.
Do I need to be present during the move?
We recommend being available to answer questions and give direction, especially at the start and finish. If you can’t be there, make sure someone you trust is on-site to sign paperwork and guide the crew.
Do you offer same-day or last-minute moves?
Yes, if we have availability. Call us directly at 503-544-7972 and we’ll let you know what we can do.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept major credit cards, debit cards, and checks. Payment is due at the end of your move unless other arrangements are made in advance. We also offer financing.
Do you move apartments and condos?
Yes. Our residential movers are experienced with elevators, stairs, and limited parking access.
Can I hire you just to load a POD or U-Haul?
Absolutely. Our labor-only residential moving services are ideal if you’re driving your own truck.
Do I need to empty my dresser drawers?
Nope! It’s actually best to keep clothes in drawers as it reduces the likelihood of damage. Don’t worry about the weight; we have the right equipment to move heavy furniture safely.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. We provide basic coverage based on item weight, and you can upgrade to full-value protection, even on moving day. We also recommend transporting irreplaceable or high-value items yourself. All our movers are employees and covered by workers’ comp, so you’re never liable for on-site injuries. Be cautious of companies with unusually low rates. There’s a chance they’re not insured.
Do you move electronics/artwork?
Yes. Electronics and artwork must be properly packed to be covered by insurance. Original packaging or professional packing (which we offer) is required. See our What Not to Pack page for guidance. Talk to our team if you’d like us to pack delicate or high-value items for extra peace of mind.
Do you move pianos?
Yes! We move pianos if they’re part of a larger household move and also provide piano-only moves. We move upright, baby grand, grand, and even children’s pianos.
Do you move hot tubs?
Yes!
Do you move pool tables?
Only if they’re slate-crated and fully prepped for transport.
Do you move house plants?
We do not move house plants since they can be damaged in moving trucks, and we’re not liable for damage.
What else don’t you move?
We don’t move pets, flammables, or liquids. Lawn mowers are okay if the gas is drained. Grills are fine, just disconnect the propane. See What Not to Pack for more.
Do you offer U-Haul or moving truck rentals?
No, but we do offer labor-only services if you’ve rented your own truck.
Do you move seniors or provide special assistance?
Yes. We regularly help seniors with downsizing and moving to retirement communities. Our crews are careful and patient, and we can coordinate directly with family members or facility staff.
