Jackson School Neighborhood Hillsboro
The Jackson School neighborhood of Hillsboro is in the northwest part of Hillsboro. If you are moving to this area, you will be happy to know it is considered a close suburb of Portland, a medium sized city featuring an international airport, access to I-5 and I-84, and access to both mountain and ocean adventures.
In Jackson School, you will find that your family has access to many great recreational opportunities. You can use the Harewood pool, multiple wooded areas with walking paths for enjoying nature, and explore the wetlands, a creek, and wooded trails.

Solar World employs 758 people in its facilities and there are peripheral companies and industries which fuel its push toward sustainable energy. Despite the cloudy days all winter long, there really is enough energy from the sun to keep solar panels productive year-around. Local university, Portland State, is hard at work researching and developing new and better sustainable technologies which are sure to take root in the area in years to come. With an entrepreneur’s vision in this sort of creative environment, you can do very, very well with a home base in Jackson School.
When you’re off work and looking for something new to do, the Tillamook Forest is nearby, featuring camping, hiking, and other fun recreational opportunities. Stubb Stewart State Park, which offers an excellent disc golf course, is just a few minutes away, too. If you keep driving out OR-26, you’ll reach the Pacific Ocean. Look out for Canon Beach, which is well-known for Haystack Rock, which was featured in the 80’s era film, The Goonies.
Downtown Portland is less than 30 minutes away and there you can find independent movies, art museums and galleries, Powell’s Books, and more music and theater opportunities than you can ever exhaust.
